South Hetton CC

Welcome to South Hetton CC

Since the formation of our Club in 1880 we have afforded cricketing opportunities for over four generations within the former East Durham coalfield. Located between the two mining communities of Easington and Easington Lane upon CISWO (Coal Industry Social Welfare Organisation) land; the Welfare Park run by a Welfare Committee until 1984. The Land was given by Deed of Gift when local CISWO ceased to function. There is a restrictive covenant which prevents use of the land for any other purpose than sport and recreation. The Cricket Club and Parish have forged a strong workforce partnership which has allowed for the development of cricket to a wider age group and support in application for funding. With the closure of our colliery, the Club today represents a vibrant sporting and social centre for the community, and without doubt is an important part of the lives of many people.
